Strength is Beautiful

Strength is a word that has new meaning to me. It is so important to always take the positive path even when it is not always that visible at the time. You show your strength when odds are against you and you are at your lowest. I always thought I was strong and was able to get “things done” but now as I evolve into the woman I am today, I can honestly say strength is a quality I proudly own as mine. I learned that I can rise above anything even when there are people out there that believe different. I also have learned strength is going my own path and taking care of me first knowing when I do that everyone else around me will be taken care of as well."Take the path less traveled" takes on a whole new meaning in my life. I am loving life and confident in my strength that I can do it, and I will do it.

This is a photo I saw online and it inspired this blog post. Alexis Bledel is a favorite actress of mine. She played the main character of my favorite show …Gilmore Girls. The series ended with her turning down an engagement because she wasn’t ready to settle, she needed to explore on her own for awhile. I one day do want to settle, but just like Rory, I am more eager to do things on my own for awhile. I thought before that settling down was the next step after college, but it doesn’t have to be like that. I enjoy myself more with the experiences I endured, both good and bad, and appreciate who I am today. I believe I wouldn't have become who I am today if I would have settled quickly after college. For that, I am excited for the day when I want to settle because I will be bringing the best of me into the relationship.

Alexis Bledel as Rosie the Riveter“She’s a symbol of women getting things done. It shows that strength is beautiful.”—Alexis Bledel, 27, of this summer’s comedy Post Grad

This link will take you to the other woman in history that have made and impact…not sure Michelle Obama should be in that category yet, but you know the media.

Rock and Roll

Rock & Roll

'Cause If she wanna rock she rocks
If she wanna roll she rolls
She can roll with the punches
Long as she feels like she’s in control
If she wanna stay she stays
If she wanna go she goes
She doesn’t care how she gets there
Long as she gets somewhere she knows

I love life, I love that I am in charge. I have learned so much and have become such a positive and stronger person in the matter of months. I do believe that good things happen to good people. Through my life lessons, regardless on how negative the situation was, I "did good", stayed honest, and always looked for the positive path knowing it will come to me like a boom-a-rang good and pure.

What I am Thankful for Today:
1. My School
2. A new battery for my computer :)
3. The Friends I have all around the country
4. My Heath both physically and mentally

Starlight

I just recently planned a trip to Italy & Greece for this summer. It is really surprising how much life can change. Starlight is actually a song by the band, Muse. To me, this song means you are leaving it all behind, when you come back the things that matter will be there. This trip for me is going to be revitalizing and it is going to help me evolve into the person I want to be.

Far away
This ship has taken me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
I'll never let you go
If you promise not to fade away
Never fade away
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Hold you in my arms

I have really surprised myself in how I have turned around my life. I am happy for the most part (there are rain clouds, sometimes, but that is life) and now I am just working on living in the moment. There are some things I can plan in life, but for the most part, I just have to see how it turns out on its own. All I know is as long as I "do good" and stay honest, I will end up exactly where I am meant to be.

What I am Thankful For:
1. My cat and how much he needs to be near me all the time.
2. My dream trip to Italy and Greece.
3. A trip to Texas.
4. My Cozy Bed!

"Let the tension go and float"

I have the Daily Teachings from "The Secret" and that quote got my attention. I have been so tense for so long I had forgotten how it feels to relax. Over my Christmas break, I actually got that feeling back. It has been great. I can truly float now. Things that were big deals before this episode showed it's ugly little head, really got under my skin. I am way more laid back now with all that experience behind me.
"Good is underneath every single thing that appears to be negative. If we can know that good is all there is, including the negative situation, then we will see a negative situation transform into all good"

"Peace comes from knowing that good is all that exists."

I am constantly reflecting, letting go tension, and forming closure over all that has happened. I think what ultimately helped me make head way in closing this part of my life, is what I did for my younger brother. My younger brother experienced something far worse than I ever had at a much younger age over a longer period of time. When I started going through my situation, he supported me, he protected me, and most importantly he saw that bad things happen to good people but it is how you get back on your horse and keep going. I never quit, I made a life for myself, and proved that my situation wouldn't take me over. I am not saying I am solely the reason why my younger brother has made a positive 180 in his life, but we are definitely more close because of it. That one good thing out of a negative situation has made all the difference.
"Good is underneath every single thing that appears to be negative"- so true

I am going to end my post with this quote from The Daily Teachings from The Secret:

"A feeling that greater possessions, no matter of what kind they may be, will of themselves bring contentment or happiness, is a misunderstanding. No person, place, or thing can give you happiness. They may give you cause for happiness and feeling of contentment, but the Joy of Living comes from within."

Know your name

"If it's a broken part, replace it
But, if it's a broken arm then brace it
If it's a broken heart then face it
And hold your own Know your name
And go your own way
Hold your own Know your own name
And go your own way
And everything will be fine."
~Jason Mraz "Details in the Fabric"

From my drive home today, I thought a lot about the past 3 years. Its been a numerous amounts of ups and downs. I am finally becoming more ok with that though. Going through it was no picnic, but God leads you on those paths for his reasons, knowing the outcome is where you belong. I learned that there are mean, shallow people out there and no matter how kind you are it won't change them. Just know that karma has it's way of coming back. I learned how much stronger I was and that I am more determined then I ever gave myself credit for. I learned FINALLY that I need to create my own happiness, and there is no rush in life. Life almost works in perfect consequences. Its gives you what you want in life when you are completely ready for it. I know this because it has happened to me. Its good to feel the new me finally sprouting through. At one point I looked at my life as being defeated. I thought I lost a lot on what I thought I could achieve, but I believe it was just the opposite. I got knocked down quite of few times, I still have bruises to prove it. But it shows real character and strength to keep going and keep pushing forward when you are down. I now understand this advice after being told it millions of times. I have accomplished more in my short little life then I anticipated. I am grateful for what I have learned and feel proud that I am better for it.

Of course last night everyone was asking about new years resolutions. I gave very vague ones, because well too complicated I guess.

1. Create my own happiness (Doing anything and everything I WANT TO DO)
2. Stay on schedule (I don't want grad work or my job controlling my life, I have a good friend that lives by the "life is too short" motto, so I think that's a good one to adopt)
3. Grow out my hair- a fun easy one :)

I am happy to announce for the first time, that I am more happy than I have ever been. I am excited for my life ahead of me. I know I can't plan it, but it will happen when my mind and heart are ready for it. Sure, there will be days when I am not all that happy, but I'm human. I do know though, I can do anything and be everything I have always wanted to be.

Yay for 2009

2009

When talking with a close friend, who is the most unselfish person I will ever know, I came to the conclusion that for almost two years, I haven't been able to be completely happy. I had something at the pit of my stomach, a demon.

What I am happy to report, is that demon is gone! BUT I am kinda out of practice of being happy, completely. I realize people will always have something that is not so happy to talk about, but I know I won't experience what I had again. It's sad that I forgot how to be completely content. For 2009, thats what I am going to work on regaining back in my habit...and actually feeling confident that it's actually true. For two years, I have put myself in the mind frame, that new year, better year, but this year, I think it can really happen...Well I know :)

Happy New Year

My Happiness

Everyone has gone through heartbreak or will at one point. It's not like I wish it upon anyone, but it's a part of growing up I guess.

He came white horse and all. Intelligent, good looking, successful, and knew me for who I was, what I stood for. He adored my job and all my little quarks. As my year of war went on, he was there. Sadly, our relationship ended, reason unknown.

He was my happiness for so long, during a time where my life was spirally out of control. Something I thought would never happen, but God gives you these things for many reasons, one day you will totally understand. I am seeing his reason, well one of them. I am now finally creating my own. The more I do it, the more I feel like me before men were really in my life...don't get me wrong, I love men, just know they aren't everything, and won't be great until me is fixed.

If that man ever reads this, please know, I am thankful for you. You are important to me and I will always love and care for you. You helped me, and for that I can only look at you with a grateful heart and hope you find what you are looking for.
